American Earth

Towards the end of the 22nd Century, America was a shadow of its former self. Though slowing it was reclaiming its former glory.

The 21st century had been rough on America. China, India, and Mexico had been the rising powers. A civil war in which California broke free occurred. Mexico swept north. And by 2075, the nation that had been a beacon of democracy was a totalitarian dictatorship.

Militarizing itself, America was, in 2086, ready for an invasion of Cuba. The invasion would be costly, but with the highest rate of military spending per GDP in the world, America could handle it even if far more powerful nations like China were backing Cuba.

As American troops entered the island, a curious thing happened. The entire nation seemed to be vastly unadvanced, and not a single Chinese battle station was found on the island. A few hours later, the 'President' understood this when, the governor of Texas came to Washington. America had traveled back in time to the year 1986!

Without much (if any) hesitation, American troops moved in all directions. Across the globe, the USSR received word of the invasion of Cuba, and solemnly thought a nuclear war was about to start. It released its nuclear weapons on the entire free world, and told China to do the same. It expected an immediate retaliation, which never came from America. A few nukes in Alaska, and Europe went off, but the vast majority of America's nukes never came.

A few American cities were temporarily hurt, but only a few people died, and all of the fallout was removed in a few days. Most missiles were deflected. The Soviet Union and Chine were determined as the source, but no nuclear attack immediately came, as the leadership in Washington assumed the whole world would eventually fall to American leadership.

Most of the west coast was wiped clean of people, and cities were bulldozed over, and replaced with settlers from the East coast. The rocky mountains and jungles in North America were removed. A single farm built in the Mid west could produce enough food for half a billion people a year! (the population of East coast America is already at a billion). These 'farms' were actually lots of farms built on top of eachother, extending past the tallest buildings in the 20th century, and being as wide as whole towns. Most of the nations of South America capitulate within days, and virtually all of their population is killed (with a few thousand being moved to American 'Protectorates).

Biological Warfare and computer attacks combined wipe out most of Europe's population before American troops even get there. America slices through the third world easier than butter. The Moon soon has 4,000 settlers living on it.
Fighting stops just 14 months after it started. America sits atop most of the world, and only leave Asia and Scandinavia alone because it thinks it can save them for latter. Approximately 2,000 Americans have died in the fighting, compared with 3.4 billion of the rest of the world. American population has been projected to roughly double every 15 years since 'The Disaster' as the remaining free nations call it (America has genetic technology that enables it make humans reproduce much sooner in their lifetimes).


All of the remaining nations call themselves 'Socialists'. They're just happy to be alive. They've stabilized due to small amounts of American technology, and they're ready to wait until America collapses on itself.
